Hi Peter,
My gut reaction would be Pied Wheatear but I have no experience of the 'capistrata' form of Eastern Pied (Variable) Wheatear to separate the two, but I'm pretty sure they're very similar and could occur in your zone. If you have any side-on images showing the extent of colouring on the cap and nape, it might help? You can rule out Hooded on the tail pattern, nicely shown in the third image. Smart bird! Nice shots

Hi,
i work here with the book "Birds of the Middle East". There are Pied Wheatear and Eastern Pied Wheatear as different species, they are East and West or Pied is standing for both of them? Cheers Peter. |

Hi Peter,
Do you mean 'Birds of the Middle East and North Africa' P.A.D Hollom, R Porter et.al? Pied and Eastern Pied Wheatear are different species with the potential difficulty in separating the 'capistrata' male Eastern Pied from a male Pied Wheatear, hence my comments. Mark

from pic 1 and 3: much black on outer tail-feathers, creating terminal band of uneven width suggests strongly Pied.
