5D2 HD Video: Philippine Cuckoo-Dove (1 Viewer)

After over 5 years of trying, I was finally able to get close to this bird, thanks to a tip on the feeding tree by a fellow bird photographer. Here's sharing a 3-1/2 minute clip of this Philippine endemic, taken with the 5D2 + 500 f4 IS + 1.4x TC (the artifacts are due to the compression during XR's transcoding, and are not present in the uploaded *.wmv file).

Very nice Romy, I didn't think the compression artifacts were too bad. BTW, are there no sound volume controls or have I just missed them?

What mode did you shoot in? I've been using AV on my 5D2 but I am interested in your settings.

If you do have a problem with your current web presentation, you might have a look at Vimeo.

I like their HD quality very much although you can only do one HD a week (up to 500mb of regular guality as well) without a paid membership.I suspect you would be able to embed it in your pbase site. I have embedded Vimeo on both Wordpress and Coppermine.

Thanks, folks. |=)|

Harold, I normally shoot video in Av-priority too, though I haven't noticed any difference even in M mode - the 5D2's video mode has a mind of its own as far as exposure settings are concerned.

I'm also at Vimeo and I actually find XR's transcoding a bit better in minimizing compression artifacts than Vimeo's single pass transcoding for free accounts (haven't tried the two-pass paid account yet). You're right, Vimeo is also embedable in PBase.
