greater than 4 optical zoom
I have a Swarovski ad65 I want to set up for didgascoping. The litature that came the scope said not to use a camera with greater than 4 optcal zoom. Why could I not use a 10 variable varabile camera and only zoom to 4 when using the camera with a scope
Thanks in advance for any help. Chuck Hall |

You can use any zoom setting you want. It all depends on how much vignetting you can tolerate in your pics. You always trim away the black in processing too.

It has to do with the design of the lens and how far away it is from the eyepiece. 4X zooms are quite close to the eyepiece and you will get little vignetting. With 10X zooms, the lens gets quite far away from the eyepiece and you get lots of vignetting and it can be challenging to even get focus.
