Hello, I am new to this site and this is my first post.
I have a white dove and as I was handling him today, I noticed small (about the length of a sugar ant), skinny (like the lead of a mechanical pencil or a little thinner), light brownish things crawling out from around his neck. He has a mite protector on his cage. I have no idea what these are. Can anyone help?? |

Sounds like some sort of mite (or other parasite) infestation that has simply bypassed your mite protector. Invertebrates are notorious for their lack of respect for man-made deterrent devices. I'd suggest treating your dove with something generic or taking it to the vet.
