Thailand sunbirds
Hello!
Is it possible to understand which sunbirds these are? I know I know - the photos are so-so, and females:), but still... 1-3 was fluttering in a bamboo grove close ro the river in a broadleave forest 4 nearly impossible... |

5 is this a sunbird? The eyes are confusingly blue - cannot find such a bird in the Robson's guide
6-7 Two different individuals but were hanging around together. Not sure, perhaps are the same as 5 Thanks a lot in advance for an attempt! Alexey |

Any chance of more details on the whereabouts of the sunbirds (where in Thailand, and was the habitat suburban or true forest edge)? For photos 5-7, try checking the bulbuls page of Robson and see how you get on. My first guess on the sunbird is that it is female Crimson (1-3). Pic 4 looks like a juv but face pattern isn't very clear. Dave

Hi Dave given your experience why crimson over purple throated - I found them (females) difficult to tell apart - any clues or features to note for future reference

4, 6, 7 - on Samui island in the secondary forest close to a pupulated area. That was my initial thought as well but I cannot see any blue-eyed bulbul in the book! Resemles a juv. black-headed bulbul??? |
