Hi I just got a new parakeet. I have not been able to hold him yet but he was pretty calm at the pet store.I can put my hand in the cage and he does not bite but somtimes just slides down to the other side of the perch. I have gotten to the point where i can put my finger up above his legs and press up a little, am I just suspose to wait untill he hops up or should I scoop him up?
Another Q's. When I am in the room he seems to lift up one wing or a foot or once in a while both wings. Is this good or bad? He also sits there and does somthing wierd with his beak, he makes little clicking noises with it, like there is a little piece of food in his mouth but there is not? Well any help or tips would by nice.. Thanx |

Hi and welcome Swirldot, I hope someone can help you.... but you may be better off asking on a dedicated captive/caged bird website, Birdforum.net is aimed at birding/wildbirds.

Hello Swirldot
Welcome to the forum. Further to Andies post I am sure that there is a newsgroup for captive birds where you should be able to get all the help you require. But you are still more than welcome to keep visiting the forum and hopefully contributing with information relating to wild birds. burhinus Last edited by burhinus : Friday 27th December 2002 at 19:50. |

Could the bird be breaking wind when it lifts up its foot & opens it's wing. Who, when drunk on Adnams does the same thing??
