Bamber Bridge Birder

Gull ID Crete
I took this photo just north of Aghios Nikolaos on the coast.
As i'm not to clever with Gull ID's and it doesn't seem to be in any of my books I require a little help. Derek

hi derek,
this is an adult audouin's gull. quite a rare species.

Yeah an Audouin's Derek. Look at the head shape and also the way the black wedge on the primaries merges into the grey.

Thanks for the help with the ID.
I spent 11 days in Crete and didn't get chance to do any birding so to see such a rare Gull and get a photo makes up for it. Derek
