Nikon Coolpix P6000 Review w/ Zeiss 85T*Fl
Colleagues,
I've just posted my personal review of the P6000 on my blog. I've included images and comparisons of ISO performance. Short summary? This camera has exceeded my expectations. As a replacement for the P5100 I've found it to be better at focusing, producing sharper images, and providing a wider range of magnifications w/ the 20-60X zoom eyepiece of the Diascope. High ISO is expectedly noisy, but usable under certain circumstances. Please have a look! http://jerryjourdan2.blogspot.com/20...-aug-2009.html |

Thanks for this review Jerry.
Some additional questions are open. Do you tried also the remote shutter? I found a nice Nikon IR remote shutter, but someone told me, that the P6000 switch back to normal shutter after each remote taken picture! Can you confirm this? So you have to go into the menu after each picture? Compared to my selfmade USB shutter for my Canon A590IS this is a serious restriction. Is the self time usable instead? Due to LCD screen and Autofocus issues I think about replacing the A590 with a P6000. |

Bughunter,
I haven't tried the remote shutter. I believe it has to be pointed at the camera from the front in order to fire. A friend of mine has one and is happy w/ it. I'm used to using long-lens technique (draping my left arm over the scope to steady it and manually depressing the shutter w/ the right hand). I will use the 2-second or 10-secod self-timer when wind conditions and subject permit, but generally find that there is too much vibration from wind to think about self-timers and/or shutter cables. Thanks Timedrifer and trco for the replies regarding the remote! |
