Greetings From Southern Ontario, Canada

Hello! I live in a city near Niagara Falls, Canada. I enjoy feeding my backyard feathered friends. My German Shepherd enjoys patrolling our yard against squirrels and cats.

My feeder is most commonly occupied by house sparrows, and down below, a pair of Northern Cardinals like to hang out. I've spotted robins last spring, black-capped chickadees, a Northern junco, and a downy woodpecker stopped in briefly last year. I also watch for the peanut pigs, a pair of blue jays plus the aforementioned cardinals. I toss peanuts out when I see the jays or cards. Sometimes, I whistle to the jays and they whistle back. :o

Two days ago, I saw a red-shouldered hawk in my neighbor's tree! I was amazed! I'm sure my friends think I'm nuts for being excited over that, thus that's why I joined this forum.

Hi kayjay,

A warm welcome to BirdForum from all the Moderators and Admin. Glad to have you on board

My sister-in-law lives on Lake Erie and we have been to Niagara. Some very good birding around there.
