Gull identification Yucatan Peninsular, Mexico
I have just returned from a very enjoyable holiday in Mexico. I stayed at Riu Lupita, in Playacar and took advantage of a day trip with a local guide, Luis Ku Quinones, but most of the time was spent around the hotel. All in all I saw 130 species and hope to do a trip report shortly.
On the local beach was a flock of Laughing Gulls with one larger gull. I assume from location it is an American Herring Gull but would appreciate confirmation as immature gulls still confuse me. |

It isn't Herring Gull. To my eye, it looks like 2nd cycle Lesser Black-back, it appears they get that far south now.
Just a stab, to get you started..... |

For me your Gull looks more like a 2nd winter Western Gull.
