raquet-tail id, Sulawesi
Failed to get good views of raquet-tails at Tangkoko or Togian Is, but have read that they have different calls.
Some birds had a call that I thought was very similar to Blue-backed Parrot. Vaguely jackdaw-like barking "kyah kyah kyah". Is this unique to one species? I didn't hear it from raquet-tails in Lore Lindu where only Golden-mantled occurs. Any help appreciated, Cheers, Larry |

We only saw Yellowish-breasted Racquet-tail at Tangkoko.
The three note call sounds right. Ian |

Hi Larry,
The calls you describe are Yellow-breasted. Let me know if you would like me to email some sound files if you need convincing ![]() Rob |

Many thanks for the confirmation Ian and Rob. I've since had some good views too, so all's well on the racquet-tail front
could do with sound files for Small and Vinous-breasted Sparrowhawks if you have them though, for another Tangkoko id. cheers, Larry |
