Bee Hummer, and help wanted!

I have uploaded a pic. of a male Bee Hummingbird somewhere in Opus (twice). I tried to upload it into the page on that species, where there is no picture, but I found the instructions less than helpful. I'm not a computer programmer, unfortunately. So there are 2 pics of a Bee Hummingbird floating around Opus somewhere. Could someone put them in the page about that species, or walk me step by step how to do it myself?

Thanks,

Richard

The image has been added, see Opus page (and a great image it is )

When you have hit upload image, and gotten through the process, which you obviously was able to, then keep that page open, and open the opus page for the species in a new page/tab. In the opus page, hit edit, and insert some text that in your case became:
[[Image:Bee_Hummingbird.jpg|thumb|550px|right|Photo by Rbstern-1461
Photo taken at Maria la Gorda, Pinar del Rio Pro., Cuba, February 2009
Click on photo for larger image]]

The first part says image:Bee_Hummingbird.jpg and it should be pretty clear that the image name from the upload image page is what you need to insert here. Secondly, within the area flanked by and , I inserted first the username that uploaded the image and in the second part your name in full; if you prefer to have your user name visible instead of your full name, then the two parts should be identical. Thirdly, the info about place of photography from your own information; we have agreed that for opus, month and year is sufficient, we don't need the date, but we like to have the country in country so that it appears as a link.

Hope this is understandable

Finally, I would strongly recommend that if it is not already visible there, that you also upload the image to the gallery, more people will see it there.

Cheers
Niels

Hi again,

I just attempted to upload a pic of a Cuban Trogon, using the instructions you gave above, but it still hasn't appeared on the page (of course I substituted the appropriate data in your instructions). I must still be doing something wrong. I tried hitting "enter" after the sentence, but that didn't do anything. There doesn't seem to be a way to save anything. I have a number of other pictures from the Feb. 09 Cuba trip, which might be acceptable to Opus, but it's too frustrating at the moment. The Trogon image is called 96-DSC00256-Trogon.jpg, and is also presumably somewhere on the Opus site (how do I search for that, anyway)?

BTW, all of these pics appeared in the gallery earlier this year.

Richard

The page you can insert the code for an image into should look like this: http://www.birdforum.net/opus/index....on&action=edit

You will notice that there is a box for editing the text and below the box are the areas to hit for saving. I wonder if you have not hit the tab above the opus page called edit?

When adding the link to the image, you should most often add it directly above the scientific name, above the line that in the editing window looks like this:
;Priotelus temnurus

Secondly, when you hit the link for "upload file" to opus, you are taken to a page named Upload file. In the introductory text on top is a link to "list of uploaded files", and following that link takes you to a page with a search box at the top.

Cheers
Niels

Just sorted the trogon photo. Splendid image: makes me jealous of your country's foreign policy.
