Have finally gotten around to writing up my trip to Lac du Der and Foret D'Orient from last year, others' reports were really useful for me so wanted to return the favour:

Overall the trip was a success, with Black Woodpecker, Middle Spotted Woodpecker, Hawfinch, Firecrest and the spectacular Common Cranes my birds of the week; missing out on White-tailed Eagle and Rough-legged Buzzard was not too disappointing but the complete lack of even a hint of a Grey-headed Woodpecker will see me back again before too long…am planning to go again either in March or May this year.
