Thanks for posting this so early it's very instructive to see how one might go about making such a complex compostion.

Looks good Arthur. For some reason I had expected brighter colors but the subdued colors work well.

I had to take a look at my guide to European birds when I saw the bill. I've never seen the bird in the flesh and must just not have noticed it when I looked in the guidebooks. But I see that it really does have a small bill! I'm not sure I've ever seen a bird with a bill that small.

another superb piece Arthur - as always, the character of the bird is captured perfectly.

super piece, at first I was a bit surprised at how the colour of the bird is not in any way reflected in the background, but in fact, I think it's really clever, how the bird mirrors its environment through its pattern - the dark on the bird cuts nicely through its shape and weaves it into the rest. Another super piece!

Lovely, they are quite subtle and looking at it in all those branches I can hear the chirrupy sound :)

Blimey! That's a lot of work in those beardies. It reminds me of Chinese embroidery work, all intricate little strokes making a colourful, coherent whole. Bravo indeed!

Love the ltt too, he quite happily inhabits the complex and almost abstract pattern of the branches and twigs.

Good to see you're still with us Arthur!

Nice sketch sheets, presumably this is your back garden barnie, you lucky B!

Yes, go with the last one, it's virtually perfect for showing off the top of the wing and the underside at the same time.

All have a great sense of loft! What a treat to be able to see them in your backyard. I don't have a favorite so will just wait to see which one you choose.

I love owls, there is something about them somehow. It must be lovely to have some locally, I do get to hear some where I live (at least I think the one call is a female)
The one with the moon in the background would make a lovely piece of art...
They are all very nice sketches, I also admire the ones with the wings coming down together, just how you see them out hunting at night.
