My point was that a current Authorized Nikon dealer says its so. Saying something that isn't true when advertising in the US can lead that party into trouble. It's also current on a Nikon web site (the dates are copyright dates ... you don't need to update those unless the text changes). So that's good enough for me.

Or search the forum for those people who have had recent fixes under this warranty. There are a couple in the last 6 months and certainly a few since 2006.

The only way you'll get the answer you want is to email Nikon.

One of the reasons I asked was that had I sent a pair for No-fault repair in 2009. It came back without any work done; no explanatory note refusing the repair and giving reasons (which I might have accepted and bought another pair of glasses) and a bonus from Nikon: a large metal part 3.5"x3.5" (weighing probably 400 grams and placed inside the case) from a laboratory instrument. I need not spell out what this sharpish object could or might actually have inflicted on the glasses). If someone desires a scan of this object it can be supplied.

I have sent the binoculars to the US for a second try but it's not easy to find someone willing to carry the glasses and another person to bring them back after three or four weeks.

As to emailing Nikon, I am not encouraged by the friendliness of their website for emails. Do have a try and let me know what you think. My earlier post in this thread was not written without some forethought but I thank you for taking the trouble to reply.

Correction: The phrase above should read: One of the reasons I asked was that I had sent a pair for No-fault repair in 2009.....

I am reviving a thread with an old thread warning purely because I wish to place something on the record. My second hand Nikon Venturer 10x42LX (part number 7346) has been replaced by Nikon USA with a refurbished Nikon Premier (part number 7536R and a gold dot refurbished identification on the focussing wheel faceplate). I have, consequently, discarded the aforementioned 3.5"x3.5" metal part which was a bonus from my earlier unsuccessful effort at repair. The replacement binoculars are quite good but nothing to get excited about. I should leave it at that.
