Smile Little Owl

Hello I was wondering if any one has seen a little owl on the floor in their garden.
We have a little Owl that sits in the tree opposite our garden. Yesterday afternoon "he or she"? was sitting on our concrete fence post and then dropped onto the grass. There was no food about as far as l am aware because l only put nuts in the feeders on the front and there were no little birds on the ground. The bird spotted us watching and returned to the post and then flew off so l don't know what it was looking for any ideas?

Little Owls do eat a lot of invertebrates so feed a lot on the ground
