Smile Ruffs and Reeves

Hi there

I have been having a good look though my Oxford book of birds and I came across the species Ruff.

Ruff is a bird that is known to me. The thing I found interesting that there is a picture written caption mentioning a bird called a Reeve which looks similar to a Ruff.

The question I want to ask 'Are Ruffs and Reeves' the same species of bird or are they different/similar/related to one another'?

I looked at Opus on BF, and no Reeves from what I can see

Puzzled here

Regards
Kathy

and as they're a darn side smaller than the males, they were at one time thought to be a different species.

A thought has just occurred to me: maybe we should bring back the system of giving males and females different names.

How about 'Cheeve' for a female Chough?

I'll get my coat...
