Bangkok - Info wanted

I will have one extra day in Bangkok. Can anyone recommend a guide or place to go?

Hi Dweidemann,
Here's something for when you get back home to Cavite.

What phai lom (not sure about the spelling) is a short taxi ride from Bangkok centre , it has a big Openbill colony , Black Bitern etc , also you could try Lumpini Park in the centre of Bangkok I think Coppersmith Barbet is about the best bird I have seen there.

Lumpini Park is fine for a morning stroll
You could also try Rangsit Marshes near the airport (Jacanas, bitterns, herons, openbills etc).

Just came back from BKK. Lumpini is good, if crowded. I went out one day with Peter Ericsson, you can reach him at garden@ksc.th.com. He's been in BKK for 22 years and knows his birds really well.

Salt pans at Samut Sakhon are possible too although waders will not be that impressive at this time of year, still good mind.....

I would really recommend spending the day with Peter Ericsson, he took me to Khao Yai and I had a great time. This was despite me asking him to pick me up late at 6am. The money he charges goes to his charity work with drug addicts and street kids. In Khao Yai we even managed to get two lifers for Peter (and many more for me!).
