What species of Myna? (Singapore, 1 Mar 2010)

What species of Myna is this, I photographed in Singapore? It seems to be one of the commonest bird in Singapore. Is it a Crested Myna? Jock

Is Javan Myna another name for the White-vented Myna?

Beware old names - Javan Myna (of which there are many in Singapore and is indeed your bird) is Acridotheres javanicus
A different species, White-vented Myna is A grandis....these are the common myna in Thailand for example. They are slightly bulkier, have bigger 'crests' and are more blackish overall

Yes to the last question. This opus page tries to explain the confusion over naming this species, where javonicus and post-split grandis have both been called white-vented by different authorities!
