Odd bird at Pennington

Hi all,

This shot was taken on 15th April from the Horrocks Hide, looking along the Spit. Whatever it is is just beyond the creek and looks somewhat ravaged by a strange pox - or it's a vulture (that is a joke btw!)

Any ideas?

Swatcher

I thought I was joking but I'm not sure now. So it's supposed to look like that? Please tell me your not pulling my leg! :) It does look like a Muskovy Duck, I must say. Wonder where that got out from?

Probably dumped by someone no longer wanting to keep it. I've seen quite a lot of strange domesticated ducks there.

Not unusual but alot of these sort of ducks go unreported.

Well they know now, if that was their inbox I found. It indeed sounds like they get a few hybrids there, like this former Ruddy Duck:

Thanks for your help, people. Duncan
