Camo Tape On Tripods/scopes

I am contemplating covering my tripod with camo tape the question is would the tape interfere with closing the legs down if I put it on all three sections;has anyone covered their scope with this tape if so any problems?

Hi Bob, no you wouldn't be able to cover the telescopic leg sections... you have to make do with just the top section.
I've used the no-mark fabric tape, that seems to leave no residue even after a long time ....though very high temperatures may effect this.
It's probably overkill using it on most scopes and leg-sets for digiscoping, unless you've got very reflective surfaces on show or intend getting very close to the subjects.

Remember (though you hardly need telling!) that good camo is about breaking up solid outlines/shapes.

Yep, I was going to suggest that link for the tripod covers....they do a multitude of camo gear for the photographer, probably number one stop for anyone interested in bird photography.... www.warehoueexpress.com distribute some of his gear as well.

As I said, it may be a little OTT for digiscoping and general birding...but invaluable if you're within a few yards of the birds when using traditional equipment...when, if not in a hide, you'll need to seriously consider covering exposed skin as well.

I used camo spray paint on my Manfrotto 3021N. I hadn't considered how poor of an idea the shiny aluminum legs were when I bought it. The paint will wear off with multiple uses, but it pretty easy to touch it up. Its probably not the thing to do if you are considering resale value though. Not that this tripod is so expensive that this should be much of an issue. I dissasembled the tripod, lightly sanded and primed the legs before painting.
