Lesser yellowlegs? - So. Cal.
I saw this bird early this evening at Ballona Creek near LA. Is this a lesser yellowlegs? I thought it was lesser yellowlegs rather than greater yellowlegs because of relatively little spotting on the flanks. Any thoughts?

Hi, it's a Greater. It has a long, slightly upturned bill that is pale at the base. While it is molting its flank feathers, there is still too much barring for Lesser.

I agree it is a Greater Yellowlegs, you can tell by long and thick bill, barring on the flanks and conspicuous eyering.
