Question Monitor advice ,please ASAP!!!!

My widescreen monitor just "died" and I am now looking for a economical replacement. But need a decent one.I have seen on e-buyer.com a Samsung 23", SM2333SW for £130 .My tecchie chap says that this is remarkably good value. But,on reading reviews of this product on Amazon, one user said that it had to be scaled down for use in Photoshop, thereby defeating the object of buying the 23" screen.
The only other problems appeared to be with the stand which could be wobbly.
So has anyone a preference for any particular screen which is good for photo editing and can recommend.
My prev one was 22" Fujitsu-Siemens only had it for around 2 yrs
Thankyou.
Christine.

are you sure the samsung monitor actually does that in Photoshop? I would google that, it might have just been a problem with that one Amazon review.

I have a Hannspree XM monitor widescreen forgot the size but it is very high res and easily shows how detail you are picking up

Thanks,Birdgarden,I am glad someone has replied ,I was thinking I had asked a duff question.Yes,there was only that one problem with one review in Amazon,on ebuyer most comments were very positive, just they all said that the stand was a little wobbly.
I think I have seen the Hanspree on the Tesco site, will have another look later.Anymore suggestions very welcome.

Monitors are really not my strong point but if your video card is compatible ( I think) it should be fine.

Hannspree aren't the biggest make but I have a monitor and a 40" hdtv made by them I wouldn't compare the tv to any of the big brands but the monitor I got is pretty High quality as I had said its good enough to see detail but when my tv did break their customer service was terrible I was without a tv for about a month.

LG, Samsung (as you said),Sony are good.......I would just go into PC WORLD and look what they got for show really

Hi Christine. I don't really understand what the reviewer means but it sounds as if the graphics card on his computer cannot support the native resolution of the monitor. There is a comment about his review which makes that point. Provided the graphics card on your computer supports 1920 x 1080 I can't see why it won't work with Photoshop. I use Photoshop on my iMac at this resolution without any problems. The edges of the screen are useful for parking all the palettes, which leaves the centre of the screen clear to work on the image.

Before I bought the iMac I was looking at monitors and Samsung were top of my list. As long as the seller has a good returns policy it sounds like a good buy.

Thanks,Mark.I phoned ebuyer this morning for some advice, and it was suggested the
LG E2350V item no 194603.The assistant mentioned that the LED screen would be better than the LCD(not sure if I have that the right way round!!!),he said it was much higher quality than the Samsung.

A 'Deep Purple' monitor, wow! It's the same price at Amazon and gets another two good reviews there. My iMac has an LG LED display and it is certainly very bright with great colours. I actually have to turn the brightness down to half way. Comet sell them (at quite a bit more money) so you might be able to have a look at one before ordering from an online seller, although I get the impression that you are anxious to get one as soon as possible.

Christina - phone the Applestore at Chapelfield, Norwich for advice. When I bought my laptop there, they told me that Samsung make their Apple screens!!!!!!

My main computer (although old) is a Apple G4 but have a Mitsubishi Diamond Plus 230 (SuperBright Diamondtron) Monitor which is VERY clear - but this is probably unobtainable now.

You could always buy a an Apple Monitor!!!!!!!

Best wishes Penny

thanks mdb2,I have already purchased the LG monitor. After a few minor colour adjustments it seems fine, perhaps a trifle wide, but good sharp colour and a very affordable price, for its dimensions etc.
