San Fran trip report & photos
Did a few days of birding around the San Francisco Bay last week. Here's the trip report with some photos:
http://www.billmajoros.com/photoalbu...ari/index.html Most enjoyable for me were the Palo Alto Baylands (love the stilts and avocets) and the quails I found at Point Reyes (which was otherwise very difficult for bird photography). Looking forward to repeating the trip during the summer when the diversity should be greater. -Bill M.

Very impressive bill...I love the shots and the blog that goes with it makes the viewer feel a part of your adventure. Well done...loved it all.
I am schedule for trip to SF in March/April and was just looking at places to go. It sounds as if the Palo Alto area might be the best bet all in all. I look forward to it although my gear isn't nearly as respectable as yours but as you say, get close..lay low. You found they came to you. I enjoyed hearing how you spoke to the birds, awesome. jim

Great stuff. Rippin' good photos. You need to be out in one of the valley refuges during the winter 'Grey Lodge/ Sacramento' for the massive displays. Some great photo op's.

Nice work, particularly the California Quail. I have that bird regularly in my neighborhood, but haven't had any luck photographing it. Actually, in my patch, we have both the California Quail and the Mountain Quail, and no luck with either of them.
Still pretty dry in the Wildlife preserves in the valley, but winter visitors are starting to return. I haven't been down to Graylodge yet, but hopefully, they're flooding the fields. Jim |

Bill, looks like you came back with a vengeance (from your first photo safari) with those professional equipment. I lust after your 1D MkIII and 600mm/f4L lens.
