Shetland Bird Report 2009

The 2009 Shetland Bird Report is now available.

This sumptuous, near-150 page colour report details all species recorded in Shetland during 2009 and is jam-packed with colour photographs of breeding birds, common migrants and rarities such as Pechora Pipit; Lanceolated Warbler; Veery; Blyth's Reed Warbler; Taiga Flycatcher; Red-flanked Bluetail; and Hornemann's Redpoll.

The following articles are also included in the report: a post-breeding census of Greylag Geese in Shetland in 2009; Continental Cormorants in Dunrossness in spring 2009; Solitary Sandpiper on Foula: first for Shetland away from Fair Isle; Moltoni’s Subalpine Warbler on Unst: first for Britain & Buff-bellied Pipit on Foula: first for Shetland away from Fair Isle.

Copies cost £10 inc p&p and by purchasing a report, you will be given a complementary membership of the Shetland Bird Club for one year.

Please make your cheques payable to Shetland Bird Club and send to:

Hugh Harrop,
SBC Sales (ref:BFOR),
Longhill,
Maywick,
Bigton,
Shetland,

It's a cracking read, and gets better year by year.

Jon

Yes, it's come in later than last year - a testament to how much material it's got in it - but it's well worth the wait!

Hope you enjoy it...

Cheers,

Jon
