The dreaded twig in the way shot. One I took this week that at least shows off the Sunagor teleneg.

Scope : Skywatcher 80ED
ISO800
1/250s
Sunagor 100-200mm 1.5X teleneg mounted close to camera
75mm extension in scope
Only cropped about 10% off two edges

A very hard bird to photograph, due to they never stop darting around and they are officially the smallest bird in Britain. These are my best two of this bird, the quest continues for the perfect pose.

Goldcrest
Camera : Canon 450D
Scope : Skywatcher 80ED
ISO800
1/320s (Original was overexposed and recovered in Adobe Lightroom. Shutter speed could have been doubled probably)
75mm extension in scope
Cropped about 50% off all sides
Range 10m (33 feet)

I'm totally stunned by the results here, they rival top end dedicated manufacturer lenses!

If anyone has time could you provide a more detailed breakdown of how to use this equipment, ie do you require camera specific adapters, is it all manual focus etc. I'm seriously considering an investment.

In fact, having just searched for the celestron, it appears to have been discontinued. What would be the current alternative? Sorry about all the questions but I'd never even heard about this until today and I'm very excited!

Welcome Hyrax.

It's best to start a new thread as we'd like to keep this thread purely for images. There's another new thread started here where people will start to describe their set ups. In the UK the Skywatcher 80ED is the same as the Celestron 80ED and Orion 80ED. They are basically all the same scope with the exact same glass, just rebranded under different names.

It's all manual focus and all you need is a couple of adapters plus the scope, one is the 2" camera to scope adapter and the other is a 50mm extension tube in the back of the scope to allow you to reach focus from infinity down to around 9m.

Paul.

Cango,
Great photos you get with your setup. The multi-colored bird is a European Goldfinch (Carduelis carduelis), or as it's called in Sweden - Steglits.

Thanks.
Yes I know it's a goldfinch - I uploaded wrong (it was supposed to be a "yellow bird of sorts") but could not edit anymore (edit too much too soon, forumsoftware kicked me out...).

the goldfinch is iso 200 1/320/s.

I had posted a Moon photo on here and thought it didn't look that great, never tried using my Orion 100ED for this before this one time last fall. I got an email from Pete, I guess he gets updates of this thread and the link didn't work, a ghost post Sorry if anybody else got that. So here is what I had posted. The Moon shot was taken on my heavy Bogen tripod and Bogen 501 head Pentax K100DSuper ISO 200 1/500/s Excellent photos on here fellows.

Second Moon is what Pete on here "fixed" for me.
