Help Needed In Colchester Area
Hello,
I am a second year Geography student at the University of Southampton, and I am about to carry out data collection for my dissertation. I am collecting data on farmland birds at four/five farms in June, and I am aiming to survey each farm at least four times (total of approximately twenty surveys, in the same format as RSPB/BTO surveys), between Wednesday 1st June and Saturday 2nd July 2011. Unfortunately, I am not an experienced birder, and so I am hoping that I might be able to find some volunteers who would like to accompany me on my visits. The farms are in the Colchester/ Chelmsford area and any help would be very much appreciated. I will need you to fill out a Risk Assessment Form as a requirement from the University. If you feel that you can help in anyway at all, even just one morning, please email harriettbyrne'at'gmail.com and we can go from there. Thank you! As a former resident of Colchester, I'd suggest contacting Colchester Natural History Society (CNHS). They probably have a website these days. There were lots of botanists and invert. ecologists when I was around 10 years ago, but I bet they're still going strong and that they have birders in their ranks. Try a google search, or contact High Woods Country Park and ask the staff there for a contact number for CNHS. |

I'll drop you an e-mail when I get time. I should be able to help out although being self-employed it's difficult to be 100%.

I am in the area and any other year would loved to have helped but I have a new baby so am very time poor this summer. You could try the Essex Wildlife Trust - they may be able to help you out.
