Five unknown birds spotted in Uganda

Hi,

In 2009 I spotted these birds in Uganda. The first two were seen near Kibale, the third in Queen Elisabeth NP and the last two in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest.

Does anybody know which birds these are?

Thanks, Marc.

One is a greenbul of some kind, I'm not sure I can narrow it down much farther than that though. Not sure on #2, though it looks finchy. Four is a yellow rumped tinkerbird. I agree with bateleur for #3. Five is a sunbird, possibly a green headed? I hope this helps a little.

Great! Many thanks for these identifications.

For number 1: I have first checked all greenbuls. The yellow-striped greenbul definitely seems to have some similarities. But the female vieillot's black weaver gives a better match, so unless anybody has another suggestion, I'll use this.

Thanks again!

The thickness of the bill precludes any greenbul species and on the weight of it I think VB Weaver is the safest bet for sure. Never easy them female/non-br male weavers!
