Will the Zen Ray 25-50x zoom work on Swaro scopes?

Just wondering if anyone has tried the new 25-50x zoom on Swaro scopes to see if it fits.

The ZR 20-60x zoom was a virtual clone of Swaros, is the 25-50x also a clone/copy?

whether it's a "clone" or not is irrelevant -- it's the mounting fit that matters.

since other ZR eyepieces use the same mount as Swaros, and other ZR eyepieces will fit on Swaros, why would this one NOT fit??

I have not tried it on a swaro yet but if I do see one in the field then I will give it a go. I would agree that there shouldnt be any reason why it wouldnt fit. Also, Charles hasnt released them yet, to my knowledge, for public sale. Some time next month from what I remember.

This sounds like good news for Swaro owners as the price is likely to be a lot lower than the equivalent Swaro model.

As it hasn't been officially released we will have to wait for the specs and to see if it is a copy of the Swaro zoom.

Thanks for the info so far.

Has it been confirmed that ZR eyepieces lock in place on the current Swaro scopes?

I compared the Swaro and Zen 25-50x zooms in a store. I don't think they are optically identical like the 20-60x zooms. The reflection patterns that return from the lens elements are somewhat similar but not identical. Also the Zen eye relief is shorter and distortion characteristics are different. The barrel distortion in the Zen gives it a smaller apparent field at low magnification even though the real fields might be about the same. I included some measurements I made of the Zen 25-50x in post #23 of my review of the Zen scope.

The bayonet mounts are very close, but if you look carefully at the photos of the mount ends of the eyepieces in my Zen review (post #2) you can see that the flanges on the Zen are slightly longer than the Swaro and the dimensions of the flanges are also a little different, though not enough to prevent Swaro eyepieces from fitting on the Zen scope. I was willing to try mounting my Swaro 30x eyepiece on the Zen scope, but I didn't want to experiment with someone else's Swaro scope, so I didn't try a Zen eyepiece on a Swaro. My Swaro 30x did not lock in place on the Zen, but unfortunately I didn't investigate whether the eyepiece didn't align properly with the locking pin, had overshot the pin or had failed to reach it. I suspect the eyepiece twisted too far since the Swaro flange is shorter, so it might have locked if I had twisted it back a little.

I picked up a Zen-Ray 30x eyepiece for my eyepiece-less Swaro ATS 65--wanted something on the scope to make it a user again. The eyepiece fits the Swaro with no problems--line up the arrows and turn it clockwise about 60 degrees. It fits snug & tight, but it will NOT lock! Being that it is a fixed mag eyepiece, it's not a bother to me, but I think the Zen-Ray zoom eyepieces could be prone to loosening on the Swaros, assuming the zoom mounts are the same as the 30x.
