my August photo entry, ID required urgently

Hi folks,

As some of you may know, insects are not my forte, but I need an id for my monthly photo comp entry ASAP or it'll get disqualified.

The shot was taken in Penang Botanical Gardens, Malaysia in Jan 2004.

Any ideas, please email me at alisterbenn@birdart.net or PM me here.

Thanks in advance,

Alister

Hi Alister,

Don't worry too much about the name. Quite a few people are understandably struggling with the identifications so this rule will be relaxed for the 'Butterflies and Insects' competition - rules amended.

If at all possible then please add the names still.

If you don't know the ID then saying so should be OK, I would think.

However, labelling something with a completely incorrect name, especially of a common species, will not win any votes from someone who spots the mistake - however good the photo may be!

We aren't allowed to make comments under photos in the competition, but one entry already is wrongly Id'ed in the title - it's not even in the right family, so will probably be overlooked by a number of viewers.

I totally agree, I have ommited labelling this in fear of mis-id'ing, I think wrongly labeling something is worse than no id.
