Tiny micros
Anyone point me in the right direction for these two, which have turned up in the last week in my trap?
Lengths were approximately 5/6 and 4mm respectively. Thanks Andrew |

#1 is a Gracillaridae sp. If size was little bigger, I'd guess Caloptilia elongella/betulicola. Both variable and need finer details checked to tell them apart, but you stated measurement mau be a bit small.
#2 is Phyllonorycter sp. There's lots of them and fairly similar, but yours may have unique markings to tell which species. |

Thanks Angus.
There's certainly no shortage of Phyllorycter sp on UKmoths! Agree the first one is Caloptilia or similar, but struggling to get it to species. Haven't looked at this family before - think I'll try to get better specimens and better photography techniques to take it further. Andrew |
