More birds to ID from Mass, USA

Hi,

Back again looking for a few more IDs from my visit to USA. I think they are as follows:

1 Eastern Phoebe?? - Bad photo. This bird was in someone's front garden and I didn't want to be pointing my camera toward their house to get a better shot!!

2 American Redstart

3 Song Sparrow

4 Tree Swallow

Thanks.

I think #3 is a Swamp Sparrow. I agree with American Redstart and Tree Swallow, and can't think of anything better than Eastern Phoebe for #1.

What makes the sparrow a Swamp Sparrow and not a juvenile White-Throated?

That was my thought too.

I haven't seen any yet this fall, so the thought didn't really cross my mind.

Do young white-throats have the streaking on the flanks? I can't remember ever seeing that.

I think it's a song sparrow (and a picture with a color balance skewed to red).

The sparrow looks Melospiza to me. But I can't decide if it is a Swamp Sparrow or a Song Sparrow in a red picture. Any one noticed the bird on the lower left in the sparrow picture?

I am pretty certain the juvie WT would have a dark bill. I am thinking Swamp on this one.

Hi again. Thanks for your responses. Sorry the picture is a bit red. The light was very low and I had cranked up the exposure compensation a bit which probably distorted the colours somewhat. The other bird - a catbird - appeared almost blue in other photos taken at the same time. The "sparrow" only appeared for a few seconds! The birds were in thick scrubby vegetation at the bottom of a long garden, beside the seawall, in Hull, MA, if that might help to eliminate any species. My cousin who lives there, who isn't a birder as such, thought it might be a Song Sparrow. Here's an uncropped version of the picture where I've tried to darken it back a bit, but it still looks very red. Thanks again for all your contributions.
