Pallid Harrier? - Dormans Pool, Billingham, UK

Just got in from seeing this bird. At the time I thought it was a Hen Harrier as it flew by pretty quickly before dropping into the reeds. Only seen looking into the sun. The breast appears unstreaked although pale coloured and with the light coloured collar - maybe Pallid Harrier?

I've not seen one before.

Great images, especially for a bird seen quickly and into the sun!

Great shots, primary formula is also good for ID, 4 primaries on pallid & monty's rather than 5 on hen. Great find & pics!

Wonderful pictures Ian - what a superb find - how many have there been in the county previously?

Agreed, excellent photos and a great find.

From the rare bird thread says there have been no published records for Cleveland.

Thanks everyone

I believe it's a first for both Cleveland and Durham recording areas.
