I explained to her tales of wild men, and angels I did see

I said I like my light direct, on the hurry up with no guff
I don't really go in, for that gathered stuff
She said me too, and told me a story of a golden stream
A near death experience, bullet holes to prove it was no dream
I thanked her, she smiled gently, wishing me luck
The journey ahead, no road, track or path, let alone truck

So don't follow wild men, that have lost their way
Tee hee, they need a donkey, just like JC
But into the wildest lands you must go, to truly see
You don't need to spend forty days and nights
Just open 3 eyes and wake up, to gain insight
Soaring sentinnels our cathederals
No need for a gathering of people
Preaching snake-oil salesmen, interpreting your course
We get our light, direct from the source
The light is inside you, and all around as well
You'll get a good sense of it, if in old growth forests you dwell

Ancient natural wonders, the key to heaven's gates
It's not just, meadows, mountains, rivers, and lakes,
or woodlands, wetlands and forests we see
It's about something greater, than you and me
Life in the balance, since the beginning of time
It doesn't need us at all, it did just fine
It's not just resources, for us to destroy and use
We could do much worse, than love her as muse
It's not just here for our benefit, to observe
The way we've treated it, a privilege we don't deserve
No warm fuzzy feelings, saving isolated reserve
I agree with John Muir, it's a gift we must preserve

Up is down, hot is cold, and black is white
Don't get me wrong, darkness ain't right
As surely as night follows day, you must live in the light
As you go further, you must develop your own insight
