( Insects )

5 Small Tortoiseshell

Finally got a chance to get out and do some rummaging around. Cracking day for butterflies, considering it's still February and I've got a couple of hoverflies I've still got to ID. The caterpillar was found wandering around on the shore and heading into the dunes!

Flies

Bibio marci ( St. Marks Fly )

As usual, none yesterday, and thousands today! They must be very sensitive to temperature as they were flying around all over the place one moment and the next, when a tiny little cloud skirted the sun, they were all down in the grass, only to reappear a couple of seconds later.

Plants
