P300 for digiscoping
Hi, I wasn't sure whether to put this thread here, or under digiscoping, so plumped for here!
I am thinking of getting a Nikon P300 with the Nikon FSB-8 digiscoping adaptor to fit it to a Nikon DS eyepiece. However, I notice on the Nikon website it says that vignetting is experienced at all zoom levels. Has anyone used this set up and found this to be a problem? Also, does anyone know where I could get a 'hood' for the LCD screen as my eyesight/glasses sometimes make it difficult for me to see the screen in sunny conditions. Hope someone can assist. :)

You might check the thread below regarding use of the P300 for digiscoping (though I believe Neil used the P300 with a Swarovski or Kowa scope and not a Nikon):
http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=195746 The Hoodman Hoodloupe fits nicely over a 3 inch LCD screen - you can Google it to find a source that sells it in your part of the world. I just got one from Amazon (about $80 US) and it does the job.

It works fine with Nikon scopes and the DS eyepieces I use i regularly with the 30X eyepice, there is a little vignetting but you only need zoom just a bit and it disappears for the remainder of the zoom range.

I started using the P300/FSB8 combo with Nikon 82mm ED Fieldscope/30x DS Eyepiece since October last year.
From my experience, vignetting will disappear after zooming-in the P300 to 6.3mm with above setup. |

Btw, the "cable release" design of the FSB8 is not ideal. If price is not an issue, I recommend that you purchase a modified version from Japan which is about twice the price I think
http://www.digiscoshop.com/jpg/adapt...kai/photo1.jpgOnly knew about this modified version after I got my FSB8 from Adorama ![]() You may want to read through this thread to know more about the P300 and digiscoping http://www.birdforum.net/showthread.php?t=195746. |

Thank you all so much. I had already read through the thread you mentioned, and it was really interesting, but didn't answer the two questions I asked, which you have!
So all I have to do now is find the money for all this. Anyone want to buy any home-made jam or cakes???? ![]()
