Help identifying a bird

This little guy/girl is in my back yard and I am afraid a cat may get it.
Can anyone recognize it? Looks almost like a hawk of some sort but it resembles a Bobwhite Quail.

Hi Mike, and welcome to BirdForum!

Your bird is a Chukar.

When requesting an ID you should post your thread in the "Bird Identification" section of the forum. You will get faster replies there!

Thank You. Someone recognized it elsewhere as well.
I caught it and put it on my covered patio as it is rainy weather.

Thanks for that Josh. I didn't read fast enough as I was trying to scramble and ID it before it got dark here. I hope it survives.
