Birds around Dubai Airport

Thinking of a stop-over there some time. What species of birds are seen around Dubai Airport and any hotels around the terminals there?

Allen

I going to assume the birds you are most likely to see at the airport are those we commonly see everywhere, and I'm going to advise I'm no expert but

Most common appears to be the Common Myna, Acridotheres tristis. They call them, King Birds here, I dont really know why......

These are pretty common

Purple Sunbird, Cinnyris asiaticus brevirostris
Grey Wagtail, Motacilla cinerea cinerea
Eurasian Hoopoe, Upupa epops epops
Eurasian Collared Dove, Streptopelia decaocto decaocto
Rose-ringed Parakeet, Psittacula krameri
Red-vented Bulbul, Pycnonotus cafer

There are lots of small sparrow-like birds that could be any number of possibilities including sparrows. Quite a few crows and pidgeons.

If you are lucky you may see an Indian Roller, Coracias benghalensis benghalensis

There is some great birdwatching here, especially where there is water.........but in hotels around the airport I dont think you will see a lot more than the birds above.

Thanks, Paul,

It would be especially good to see the purple sunbird!
