Iberia Bird Festival - June 15th to June 17th 2012

The Iberia Bird Festival - A Celebration of Birds

Dates: Friday June 15th to Sunday 17th 2012

Location: Ecomuseo - El Pintado Mill - Ayamonte - Huelva

Day Entrance Fee: 5 Euro (10 Euro for 3 day Pass)

All profits will be donated to the education project of the Osprey Migration Foundation (OMF). Please support this festival and help us link communities and schools throughout the world.

The bird festival will run from Friday 15th June through to Sunday 17th June. The centre for the festival will be the Ecomuseum El Pintado Mill near to the small town of Ayamonte in Huelva Province. The approximate format and sequence will be as follows:

Friday - Exhibitor's and Open Day - Official opening (includes local produce cheese, jamon and wines) followed by lectures and local walks around the nature reserve (includes breeding Spoonbill and other marshland birds) Walks in the morning and afternoon.

Saturday - Conference/Lecture Day - 12 lectures 20 minutes duration 6 Spanish Language and 6 English Language. Walks in the morning and afternoon, plus excursion am to the Odiel Marshes.

Sunday - Lectures am. Walks am and pm. Excursion Isla Cristina Marismas pm. Bird Marathon all day. End of festival party evening and declaring the winners of the bird marathon.

Entrance fees 5 Euro per day (10 Euro for all 3 days) Children 10 years or under free.

Note: Local guided walks are included in the admission charge, extra excursions are to be offered at cost (currently the organisers are awaiting costs).

Unfortunately, I'm unlikely to be out in Spain at this time, but having been to one similar 'fair' in Tarifa, I'd recommend anyone to attend. Apart from anything else, if that experience is anything to go by, the food is far better than that on offer at our Bird Fair,

Iberia Bird Festival - Website NEW

Still a work in progress, but the new website is taking shape and will certainly give folk a better idea of what the Iberia Bird Festival is up to!

Website is down for alterations and the organisers are changing the venue, so I guess it is all back to the drawing board and recommend watching this space!
