North Shields pelagic 29/8
Well this has to be the first pelagic I've done where the highlights came in the harbour. But what highlights, a Bottle-nosed Dolphin was swimming round the boat. We could even here it breathing. Absolutely fantastic. Then when we returned 8 hours later it was still in the harbour and followed us in for a while. Brilliant. A picture is attached. An idea of how close it came is that this was taken with a video camera only, no zoom.
The highlight for me of the time on the open sea was very good views of Sooty Shearwaters. I have attached one picture, but they are not the easiest to get good shots of. Stephen. |

sounds like a great experience Stephen - not many folk get to see a wild dolphin so close up.
