I had a very pleasant walk round Stodmarsh today with an old friend with whom I used to go there quite a bit in the 1980s. The highlight was a Glossy Ibis flying into roost over the Lampen Wall and dropping into pretty much the same area that the long staying birds in the 1980s often used. I commented that it was a real "deja vu moment". I didn't realise just what a moment of deja vu it was until my companion later emailed with his notes for 16th February 1983 "2 glossy ibis in at 16.55 .... light held up well, reflected from lying snow which delayed the dusk." How's that for consistency!
