Birder in Kathmandu
|
Accipiter ID Kathmandu
This bird (heavily cropped) sat on a freshly caught prey down in Chobar Gorge, Kathmandu. No other picture. It had a mesial stripe and a heavily barred tail when it flew up with its dark looking prey (pigeon, jungle mynah?) in to trees behind rock outcrop. After that out of sight. Looks like juvenile Shikra or Besra or Crested Goshawk which are all possible in this area, although only Shikra is fairly common. Difficult to decide from only this, but maybe some of you see something we missed. Thanks,
