Sea bird sites Dorset

Hi all,

I will be on holiday in England in July, and will be in Bournemouth for a couple of days. I would like to know of any suitable sites nearby, for Puffins, Razorbills etc.

Thanks

Jim

A few puffins and razorbills breed on the Isle of Portland. The Observatory on Portland should be able to point you to the right area.

Dancing Ledge, by Durlston, is another option (near Swanage), and closer to Bournemouth - but the auks depart the cliffs in July, so Puffin especially will be tricky, and may already have left if your visit is mid-month.

Thanks for that. I'm also going to Yorkshire and Northumberland, so I'll try at Bempton cliffs and if not Farne islands.
