A couple of Australian Honeyeaters

The first photo is of a White naped honeyeater with either a juvenile WNH or Brown headed Honeyeater photographed at Central Victoria this afternoon.

The Juvenile or BHH confuses me my guide says the juvenile WNH has an eye cresent and bill base that is orange I cannot see this in the photo so have posted photo# 2 as an aid in identifying.

The third photo I thought was white plumed but the bill base should be an all over even black. So I think based on bill color it may be a juvenile Yellow plumed Honeyeater.

Any help appreciated and thanks in advance

I think you're right in the case of the Brown-headed Honeyeater but don't know about the other one with the bi-colored bill.

Thanks Steve
The more I look at the light colored bird in photo 1 and 2 the more I believe it to be a Juvenile Brown headed Honeyeater. The main reason is the width of the strip behind the eye and the coloring of the breast not being entirely white as you would expect in a juv WNH

Is there any possibility of the other bird being a Fuscous Honeyeater? Pizzy & Knight pictures them with the bicolored bill, though your picture seems to have more yellow/green than the pictured bird ... then again, you know how reality and field guide illustrations often times don't jibe.

For my money, you have an immature Brown-headed Honeyeater (full eye-ring, and white line connecting the eye ring from the back.

The 3rd photo is a young Fuscous Honeyeater

Cheers
Mat

Mat and Steve thanks
Fusous it is. I thought of that but have never seen them in Castlemaine before even though it is within their range.

Agree on Brown-headed (markings are too well defined for juv White-naped) and Fuscous (looks fine for an adult to me).
