Dubai, UAE--help with I.D.-ing a pair of birds-also,the nest fell with two baby birds

Hello, I am in Dubai, UAE, We had this neat dangling nest with a small bird occupying it the last couple of weeks or so and I went out tonight to go look at it and it wasn't there. I found it lying on the ground and put gloves on and looked inside and saw a broken egg.

I went back to the spot it fell and found two baby birds. One only moving if it was touched and the other was moving and chirping. Poor things were getting attacked by a large ant but I flicked it away and put the birds back in their nest. My husband tied the nest up to a near by branch and it it very secure now but that was 3 hours ago and there is no sign of the mother bird.

I have never seen this nest before but here are some pictures (I did not take pictures of the fallen nest or the baby birds because I thought the faster we can get the birds back up in the tree the better.

There is the photo of the male bird, female bird, the nest, and two photos of the nest with the female inside (sorry the last two I couldn't get very clear photos even though I took many photos while she was in the nest!)

It is very warm so I hope the little babies are not in danger of freezing--it is between 80F to 85F (28C to 30C) at night here. If the mama bird has not returned by morning and the little babies have survived, does anyone have any advice as to how to care for them? I have absolutely no clue what to do.

Thank you.

First bird looks like a male Palestine Sunbird to me and the second a female, but I wouldn't take that as 100%. I would wait for someone more knowledgeable to comment.

Regards Kieran

Welcome to BirdForum. I think your birds are Purple Sunbirds. Sunbirds build really amazing, large nests for a bird of their size.
