Another Yucatan bird
Can anyone tell me if they think this bird is a Chacahalaca (note tail feathers) - spotted near Playa del Carmen (Yucatan, Mexico) in November, 2011.
Thanks again!! |

Looks a mockingbird not a chachalaca

Chachalaca (with the few I have seen) usually have a broad tail. If all of that black and white something is a tail, then one of the migratory cuckoos showing (at least in part) the underside of its tail? (Eduardo will probably soon tell me why that is wrong

Not really Niels, I guess it could be a cuckoo or a mocker (do I see wing bars?) or a whoknowswhat, but not a chachalaca perching on top of a thin branch.
