Great spotted woodpeckers.

My neighbour has a female great spotted feeding her 2chicks with peanuts from his bird feeder. Is this normal behaviour or is it unusual.the youngsters are sitting on top of his shed and she is going back and forth about once every 3 or 4 minutes.
