Impressive beetle, Romania.
I found this couple on a tree today in a forest on the Edge of Bucharest. Any idea about the species? The male (I assume...) was about 10cm long, a pretty powerful looking insect!

It is a male Stag Beetle, James. A very common beetle in Romanian Oak forests.

Thanks (again!) Cristian... It was one of the few things I saw in Baneasa Forest today, before the mosquitoes drove me insane. I never learn my lesson.
