Kowa TS-601 - should I?
I'm getting back into birding after a very long time, and skint. Back in the early 80s got a pair of Optolyth Alpin 10x40 and 30 odd years on still happy with them. Bit later got given an Opticron IF60 scope but after that drifted away from it all really.
Question is a mate has offered me an old but good nick Kowa TS-601 with 20W eyepiece, camera adaptor and Manfrotto tripod for £100. As I have very limited funds do you think this will be worth it for the dosh to replace the Opticron? |

If you're saying you no longer have the Opticron and tripod and are wondering if that is a good price to get you back to having a scope I'd suggest it almost certainly is. I assume the tripod and head are in good nick too and were bought to work with the scope. Guess only you can decide whether the package is too awkward or heavy for you weighed against the enhancement to your birding from having access to that steady 20x magnification. If it doesn't work out for you I think you could probably get your money back on a sale.
