Swiftlet - Singapore - early June 2012
Just reading through the guides and two different swiftlets are supposed to be found in Singapore. To me they all looked the same and they all looked and felt like Germain's swftlet. Thoughts on a postcard to the usual address.

There are actually more than two but Germain's and Black-nest are extremely difficult to tell apart. Differences in size and tail fork etc but very hard to tell from an isolated photo of a single bird. Germain's more common and that's probably what yours are.

These were taken in the Botanical Gardens and there were a good 30 or so, but there were none that stood out as being different. There were a couple that felt and flew different at MacRitchie Reservoir. They were a little darker and felt a little 'chunkier' as they wizzed around the trees.
I'm back there in a couple of weeks. Any suggestions where to best to go to kill a Saturday? |

Try Pulau Ubin - get a taxi to Changi Village (ask for the Ubin ferry terminal), hop on the 5min boat trip and enjoy!

More bird species in general but not the ones that are restricted to the central rainforest. Ubin has a mixture of habitats plus some nice seafood restaurants so you can spend the whole day over there.
